Our Journey
The Story of Classics for Kids
The classical world is not just an ancient past, but a vibrant, immersive environment that can transform students' futures.
It has transformed many of our own students, growing their creativity, scholarship, and leadership. Participating in Latin Club and Certamen at Harriton High School had led many of them to national recognition, a supportive social network, and top universities.Â
Rising to surpass challenging circumstances, Harriton Latin Club and Certamen fundraised the $10,000 needed to provide our students opportunities to compete in annual competitions at Harvard, Yale, Princeton, UPenn, and Penn State. Classics for Kids was the first and by far most fulfilling of our ventures!
In our second year as a nonprofit summer camp, we will continue to bridge the gap between ancient civilizations and modern classrooms through our interactive, entertaining, and educational curriculum developed by Harriton students. Our story is one of dedication, scholarly rigor, and a belief that by exploring the classics, we empower future thinkers.
Meet Our Adult Sponsor!
We are a dedicated team of volunteers and passionate Latin scholars working together to bring the ancient world to life, led by our incredible Latin teacher.
Beloved by students and parents alike, Magistra Cambria works tirelessly to ensure her students are educated, entertained, and safe, whether she is guiding them to top marks on the National Latin Exam, chaperoning them to finals at Harvard Certamen, or leading Pennsylvania Junior Classical League's statewide events.
All our volunteers are high school students who are dedicated to supporting Harriton's Latin and Certamen clubs.Â

If you thought your child was nerdy, they likely pale in comparison to our kids! On any given day, your students will be mentored by National Latin Exam gold medalists, Harvard Certamen finalists, and Pennsylvania Junior Classical League student officers, providing the perfect inspiration for your students.
